God has continued to move His people towards the mission of ministering to children on the African continent and globally through the 4/14 Movement. We look back at the previous year with gratitude, encouragement and deeper resolve and burden to reach, rescue, root, and release this emerging generation into the dream of God for their lives.

We have seen God’s faithfulness in the 4/14 Movement in East and West Africa in spite of the pandemic. Some of the 4/14 activities held over the last two years in Ghana and Kenya include physical and virtual training to thousands of children and youth workers. In 2020, the East Africa team led by Rev Stephen Makau held conferences such as the Africa Digital Discipleship Conference whose theme was “Indiscriminate Outreach to Children.” The conference included guest speakers from Togo, Australia and Kenya that gathered different organizations to respond to the realities of a digitized church in ministering to children and the state of children ministry pre-pandemic. Some of the sessions, linked here included;

  1. Perspective on Digital Discipleship
  2. Digital Solutions to Discipling Children during & beyond COVID-19 and
  3. innovative outreach initiatives,
  4. Effective Discipleship Content to Impact the Unreached during and post COVID-19.

This region also hosted a Bishops and Senior Pastors and Church Leaders Breakfast to bring awareness to the church leaders about the 4/14 Window Movement in Nairobi with the provost of one of the main Anglican churches as the main speaker who spoke about a child at his church challenging him to have good facilities for children. The Team joined other like minded churches on Zoom, webinars and YouTube on issues to do with children. Childnet, a group that trains children workers and Sunday school teachers ran the Africa Children Prayer Day. The team also held 40 day of prayer in October. 4/14 Window East Africa Team joined the virtual sports training for Africa Sports ministry and has continued to disciple children through sports and host capacity building and intercessory prayers for children. Parenting training was organized by Childnet on Zoom and plans were under way to run this training in Ethiopia before the political unrest happened.

In 2021, the Ghana team trained a total of 1,918 children and youth workers across the Central, Eastern and Greater Accra regions through partnership with local churches and parachurch organisations. They also had the opportunity to share the 4/14 vision with 985 pastors and church leaders. Some of these pastors went on to help organise and mobilise participants for 4/14 training events in their communities and churches and past trainees joined other training events as facilitators.

During one of their training events in Koforidua, a Muslim student followed his friends to the training event and actively participated in the training. He was very happy to be there and was awarded a certificate. Our prayer is that the seeds that were deposited in him will yield good fruit.
