4/14 Movement Africa: Awakening a Generation
In 2019, WellConnected began discussions with the 4/14 Movement to dream bigger about what it means to accomplish the burden on both of our hearts: deeply reaching the children and youth of Africa with the good news of the Gospel.
The 4/14 Movement is driven by a clear purpose to nurture a child’s awareness of God. They hope to reach children in their developmental window between the ages of 4 and 14, and even up to age 18 when their spiritual identity is being formed. And thanks to our shared vision, we have decided to merge and consolidate under the 4/14 Movement. As our valuable partners, we invite you to join us and unite under this powerful platform in our mission to awaken the now generation.
The story of the 4/14 Movement began in 2008 in the hearts of Dr. Luis Bush and Rev. Nam Soo Kim. As they met together at Promise Church NY, a seed from the heart of God was planted in these two men of faith. They began to understand the importance of the demographic period between the ages of 4 and 14 as a time when a child’s spiritual window is most open.
This revelation grew and blossomed into what is now the 4/14 Movement. This was not just a local move of the Spirit, but a message He was speaking to other leaders around the world. The first 4/14 Global Summit was held at Promise Church, New York from Sept 6th-8th 2009.
With the support of OneHope President, Bob Hoskins, and Compassion International President, Wes Stafford, along with Dr. Dan Brewster’s new understanding of the importance of children in the Bible, the 4/14 Movement became a global movement over the next 10 years.
The message of God’s strategy to reach, rescue, root, and release was spread to almost 100 different countries by those who heard the call and carried it back home. Since 2009, the 4/14 Movement has hosted global leadership retreats, summits and national conferences in Addis Ababa, Bali, Bangkok, Colorado Springs, Nairobi, New York, Seoul, and Singapore.
Today, 4/14 gatherings continue to take place all around the globe. As a result, thousands of children have experienced the love and power of Jesus.
Whether or not you are familiar with 4/14 in your country or globally, we are excited to welcome you to this movement! As we transition together, you will begin to learn more about the 4/14 Movement in Africa and how we are equipping you, the hands and feet of the Church, to bring a relevant and empowering Gospel to the children and youth in Africa and around the world.
