“Too often, even if we believe we should do something, we don’t. And it’s not that we tell ourselves, “I’ll never do that.” Instead, we say to ourselves, “I’ll do it tomorrow.” But then we get too busy or too distracted to follow through. And if we do remember, we think, “Oh, I don’t have enough time today. I’ll do it tomorrow.” And we miss the opportunity again.”

We recognize that the 4/14 Movement is filled with passionate leaders across the world who want to change the world. John Maxwell and Rob Hoskins’ new book, Change Your World, narrates amazing stories of everyday people around the world who have affected great change for good. They also share a practical roadmap for transformation for those who may not know where to start in making a difference while equipping readers to evolve from just wanting and waiting to change the world into those who are catalysts for change. . The book shares incredible testimonies of men, women and children who changed their world by becoming dissatisfied with what they saw and being motivated to action by the gaps they recognized. This includes testimonies on starting feeding programs, rescuing orphans, pursuing education, poverty eradication and others.

We are reminded that there is an urgency and we can’t wait for change. You may be passionate about different aspects that affect children in your community. It may be things within government, schools, healthcare, churches etc. Do you have a vision to transform something about your community? What are the things that have stopped you from becoming an agent of change?

Change is catalyzed by those who envisioned a better future for themselves and their communities and as a result, took action to see this vision come to pass. We need to correctly interpret the times and move from having good intentions to good actions. We can become catalysts of change by looking at our gifts, past successes, passions and opportunities.

“Hope has two beautiful daughters; their names are Anger and Courage. Anger at the way things are, and Courage to see that they do not remain as they are.”- Augustine of Hippo

The authors remind us that if you are able to influence just one person, you’re a leader and you do not have to wait until you have more influence before you can make an impact. Are there things about the lives of children and youth in your community that burden you? Start somewhere, start anywhere! The opportunity to change your world comes from moving from inaction to action, from dreaming to hoping and pursuing, from waiting to have a lot of influence to making use of the influence you already have right now.

Real change comes when we recognize that we cannot do it alone. A movement is a group of people pursuing collaboration towards the same goal, each person bringing their gifts, skills and experiences to the table. The authors also share on transformation tables and how these can be used to bring others who are committed to growing and learning.

Ready to be a catalyst of change and change your world? Here are some reminders from the book:

  • See possibilities
  • Start small
  • Focus on what you can do
  • Make a list of who you influence
  • Invite them to join you
  • Find a common goal
  • Learn what it means to be a transformational leader and be one

You are here because you are passionate about the next generation and may have a burning desire to see them live out God’s calling over their lives. Our desire as 4/14 is to see the now generation:

Reached — Awakened to a life with Jesus coming into authentic relationship that these children may have their lives changed and they in turn may transform their communities and the world around them.

Rescued — Bring hope to a generation at risk by giving children who have been trapped in vicious cycles of poverty, violence, abuse and hopelessness an opportunity to have a new future.

Rooted — Cultivate life-changing God moments for this generation so that they may gave an opportunity to dream and grow.

Released — Empower them to change the world by encouraging, supporting, and equipping them so that they can become all they were created to be. Creating space and opportunity for them to do what seems impossible.

We pray that this resource will help you take the next step in changing as a leader, changing the lives of the children and youth around you and in turn, changing the world.

“The catalysts of change in our world are often common people fueled by discontent, frustration or anger, who channeled their emotions into good. Their actions first produced a change in themselves, and out of that change they added value to others, becoming leaders, and initiated transformational movements.”
